La esencialidad en la construcción del discurso minero Cerutti, Débora mega-mining; extractivism; coronavirus; megaminería; extractivismo; coronavirus; Within the framework of the regional socio-political ups and downs linked to extractivism and the declaration of mining activity as essential in Argentina, the article seeks to address the construction of the discourse that facilitated and fostered open-pit mining in San Juan and its reconfiguration based on of the declaration of the Social, Preventive and Compulsory Isolation (ASPO), to understand how open-pit mining appeared in the discourse of essentiality as an “exceptional measure”. The ASPO marked our displacement, our exchanges, our contact and the possibilities of defending the territory from extractivismo. Based on the analysis of some statements that circulated on corporate journalism platforms and government speeches, I seek to contribute to the field of studies of discourse analysis, political ecology and violence.
