En este texto de 2006, el teórico José Esteban Muñoz (1967-2013) aborda el problema de la depresión desde una perspectiva atenta al género y a la teoría crítica de la raza. A partir de una instalación de la artista Nao Bustamante, Muñoz reelabora el concepto de Melanie Klein de la posición depresiva en relación con su propia noción de sentimientos marrones, para mostrar “cómo la depresión misma está formada y organizada en torno a diversas contingencias históricas y materiales, entre las que se cuentan la raza, el género y el sexo”.
