At the beginning, we started by addressing a specific problem, namely that of the difficulty students face to access their study  materials.  We were later able to broaden our objectives, aiming on the one hand at encouraging greater reflection in relation  to the rights of people with disabilities within the university and society in general; and  on the other hand, at fostering the involvement and social commitment of people with disabilities and of the whole community. From the outset of the project, the main objective was that the recipients play the most important role, and this has posed a great challenge throughout these ten years. En el presente artículo nos proponemos relatar la experiencia de la Red MATE (Red de Materiales y Apoyos Tiflo Educativos) de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Comunicación de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, un proyecto que lleva diez años en ejecución.En sus inicios, comenzamos atendiendo una problemática puntual, como es la dificultad de los estudiantes ciegos para acceder al material de estudio en formato impreso. Luego pudimos ir ampliando los objetivos, en busca, por un lado, de generar dentro del ámbito universitario y de la sociedad en general una mayor reflexión en relación a los derechos de las personas con discapacidad; y, por otro lado, de fomentar una mayor participación e involucramiento de las propias personas con discapacidad y de la comunidad en general. Desde el principio del proyecto, se planteó como objetivo principal que los destinatarios sean los protagonistas, y esto representó un gran desafío a lo largo de estos diez años.
