Gráfica e símbolo em Santa Rosa de Tastil Podestá, M. Mercedes Cornejo, Mariano anfisbena bestiario arterupestre andes tastil In this essay we analyse the mythological image of the amphisbaena of the antiques bestiaries to mention later some cases from the andean rock art (Peru, Bolivia and Chile). We emphasize graphic and symbolic aspects of this representation that in the rock art have been scarsely considered. We illustrate with some images from the Northwest of Argentine and Cuyo region and some unpublished examples from Santa Rosa de Tastil, Salta. We discus the kind of graphic representations and their symbolic meaning and we conclude that the amphisbaena is a rock art image of great simbolic meening related to fertility of the Aguada iconography during the Formative period.
