This site corresponds to an individual burial, partially excavated and dated to ca. 1100 years AP. The methodology used in the taxonomic identification of the malacological remains is described, as well as the results of the analysis that allowed their identification as artifacts, more specifically as probable shell beads for personal ornamentation. Finally, the results are described within the framework of the existing background knowledge related to the presence of beads in the archaeological record of continental Patagonia and the Fueguian archipelago. En este trabajo se presenta el estudio de los restos malacológicos recuperados en el sitio Cerro Bonete o Pillay Mahuiza 1 en la costa sur de la desembocadura del río Santa Cruz (Patagonia), encontrado en situación de alto riesgo por factores culturales y naturales. Este sitio corresponde a un entierro individual, parcialmente excavado y datado en ca. 1100 años AP. Se describe la metodología empleada en la identificación taxonómica de los restos malacolófaunísticos, así como los resultados del análisis que permitió identificarlos como artefactos, más específicamente como probables cuentas automorfas para ornamento personal. Finalmente, se contextualizan los resultados en el marco de los antecedentes existentes relativos a la presencia de valvas en la arqueología en la Patagonia continental argentina y el archipiélago Fueguino.
