We intend to provide information on the aforementioned center, from a perspective linked to information management in organizations, an aspect that has been little addressed when focusing on the development of information units. The methodological path that supports the work carried out is proposed and the results of the research are presented. Finally, recommendations tending to value the organization are provided, betting on the implementation of a strategic plan. Con el objetivo de brindar un acercamiento a la gestación de una novel organización, se presenta el caso del Centro de documentación e investigación Daniel Vidart en la ciudad de Paysandú (Uruguay). Nos proponemos aportar información sobre el mencionado centro, desde una mirada vinculada con gestión de la información en las organizaciones, aspecto poco abordado a la hora de hacer foco en el desarrollo de las unidades de información. Se plantea la ruta metodológica que cimenta el trabajo realizado y se presentan resultados de la investigación. Para finalizar se brindan recomendaciones tendientes a poner en valor la organización, apostando a la implementación de un plan estratégico. Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades.
