It includes proposals in Latin America and the Caribbean that allow to analyze the case of Colombia. For its development is used the method of documentary research with the objective of generating an entry corresponding to a state of the art. This document is one of the products derived from the research Social Representations of the Librarian's School Library and its relation with the school: study of systematization in the School Library, carried out by the Research Group on Información, Conocimiento y Sociedad from the Escuela Interamericana de Bibliotecología of the University of Antioquia. El propósito de este artículo es realizar una revisión bibliográfica de la producción científica en la bibliotecología que ha fundamentado la concepción de la biblioteca escolar y el bibliotecario. Se incluyen propuestas en América Latina y el Caribe que permiten analizar el caso colombiano.Para su desarrollo se recurre al método de investigación documental con el ánimo de generar una revisión bibliográfica sobre el tema.
