Physics teaching mediated by ICT in professional education. Determination of the minimum period of a physical pendulum

This paper presents a didactic proposal on the period of a physical pendulum that was carried out with students of the Physics I course in the Engineering Program (FRCU-UTN) and Laboratory II in the Physics teaching Program (FCyT-UADER). The implementation of ICTs in these subjects and their articulation with Calculus I in dealing with the topic was addressed. The proposal included the determination of the minimum period of the physical pendulum, its experimental verification, and the use of GeoGebra software to model the experience. It allowed students to face a specific problem when applying concepts and to transfer mathematical contents for its interpretation and resolution, highlighting how useful this is for modeling physical situations. The selection of different didactic resources to explore the topic favored students’ understanding as well as their motivation to carry out the different activities, as they reported in the answers to the questionnaires and in the presented reports.
