Through the advance of the insurgents in the urban zones, the universities are usually understood like spaces directed by the PCP-SL. The Nation University of San Marcos (UNMSM) will be in the dynamics of fight between the PCP-SL and the Peruvian State, and this last will generate an offensive on many places were suppose participated the insurgents, including the university centres. The predeterminate idea currently is the preponderance which the sanmarquino student movement were “dominate” for the PCP-SL, however, the complexity of the university scene, the political conditions inside and outside of San Marcos, the different stages of the internal war’s development and the reactions against the advance of the PCP-SL discuss with this idea. Next to the written source, the memory of the ex-leaders will useful for reframe and set a different experience to the raised by the official speech, till the popular, about the conformation of the political movement inside of the UNMSM. Desde 1980 hasta 1993, el Perú experimentó el desarrollo de una guerra interna donde el Partido Comunista del Perú-Sendero Luminoso (PCP-SL) se levantó en armas con objetivos políticos delimitados. Con el avance de los insurgentes a zonas urbanas, se suele comprender a las universidades como un espacio dirigido por el PCP-SL. La Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) estará en las dinámicas de lucha entre el PCP-SL y el Estado peruano, donde este último generará una ofensiva en los varios lugares donde se suponía participaban los insurgentes, incluyendo como objetivos a las universidades. La idea predominante que existe en la actualidad, sobre la relación entre la UNMSM y el PCP-SL, es que el movimiento estudiantil sanmarquino estaba “dominado” por los insurgentes senderistas. Sin embargo, la complejidad del escenario universitario, las condiciones políticas en San Marcos y fuera de ella, las diferentes etapas del desarrollo de la guerra interna y las reacciones dadas al avance del PCP-SL contradicen esta idea. Junto a la fuente escrita, las memorias de los ex dirigentes servirán para replantear lo anteriormente señalado y para la fundamentación de una experiencia muy diferente a la planteada por el discurso oficial y común.
