It aimed to characterized “social question” in the era of finances within the contemporary crisis, indicating its repercussion in the universe of work in Brazil. At the end are recorded some guidance of liberal roots, transversals to social policies proposed by Brazilian State in accordance with the guidelines of multilateral organizations, which pressure the project of social work in Brazil. Este artigo apresenta o terreno histórico das desigualdades constitutivas das relações sociais na sociedade brasileira, (re)produzidas de forma ampliada com o suporte do Estado por meio de recursos e políticas públicas. Busca caracterizar a “questão social” na era das finanças no quadro da crise contemporânea, indicando as repercussões no universo do trabalho no país. Ao final são registradas algumas orientações, de raiz liberal, transversais às políticas sócias propostas pelo Estado brasileiro em consonância com as orientações dos organismos multilaterais, que tencionam o projeto de Serviço Social no Brasil.
