Thus, the present work approached the presentation of practices aiming to promote the students' interest, motivation and interaction for a meaningful learning of Genetics. For this purpose, a diagnostic questionnaire was applied, followed by classes with the assembly of didactic models representative of the DNA molecule, chromosomes and stages of cell division, as well as the simulation of a crossing based on Mendel's first law and karyotype assembly. The results indicate that the methods stimulated work group and allowed the diffusion of knowledge and the assimilation of content. Moreover, students could realize the importance of contextualization for learning biology. Conteúdos como citogenética e primeira lei de Mendel são comumente trabalhados no ensino de Ciências Biológicas na educação básica. Desta forma, o presente trabalho abordou a apresentação de práticas com o objetivo de promover o interesse, motivação e interação dos discentes para uma aprendizagem significativa de Genética. Para tal, foi aplicado um questionário diagnóstico, seguido das aulas com a montagem de modelos didáticos representativos da molécula de DNA, cromossomos e etapas da divisão celular, além da simulação de um cruzamento com base na primeira lei de Mendel e montagem de cariótipos. Dessa forma, viu-se que os métodos estimularam o trabalho em equipe e permitiram a difusão de conhecimentos e a assimilação dos conteúdos.
