The study was carried out in the experimental farm “Angamarca la Vieja of the comunidad Pilancón, belonging to the parish Ramón Campaña, Canton Pangua, province of Cotopaxi, the fertilizers used were (humus and compost), the doses evaluated were 2 kg m-2 and 4 kg m-2, plus a control (without fertilizer). The research had a duration of 90 days for the establishment of the trial and experimental work. The data were evaluated at three ages: 30, 60 and 90 days after transplanting. A completely randomized block design (DBCA) was used with five treatments and four replications, with a total of 20 experimental units. The variables evaluated were: plant height, number of leaves, pseudostem diameter at harvest, plant fresh weight, yield kg/plot and yield kg ha-1. To conclude, the results showed significant differences between treatments, the use of organic fertilizers had a positive effect on the growth and yield of onion plants for earthworm humus at the dose of 4 kg m-2, suggesting it as an alternative within sustainable agriculture. La investigación tuvo como objetivo: evaluar el efecto de la fertilización orgánica en plantas de cebolla (Allium fistulosum L.). El estudio se realizó en la finca experimental “Angamarca la Vieja de la comunidad Pilancón, perteneciente a la parroquia Ramón Campaña, del Cantón Pangua, provincia de Cotopaxi, los fertilizantes utilizados fueron (humus y compost), las dosis evaluadas fue 2 kg m-2 y 4 kg m-2, mas un testigo (sin abono). La investigación tuvo una duración de 90 días para el establecimiento del ensayo y trabajo experimental. La evaluación de los datos se realizó en tres edades: a los 30, 60 y 90 días después del trasplante. Se utilizó un diseño de bloques completamente al azar (DBCA) con cinco tratamientos y cuatro repeticiones, con un total de 20 unidades experimentales. Las variables evaluadas fueron: Altura de planta, número de hojas, diámetro del pseudotallo a la cosecha, peso fresco de planta, rendimiento kg/parcela y rendimiento kg ha-1. Para concluir, los resultados mostraron diferencias significativas entre tratamientos, el uso de fertilizantes orgánicos tuvo efecto positivo en el crecimiento y rendimiento de las plantas de cebolla para el humus de lombriz de la dosis 4 kg m-2, lo que sugiere como una alternativa dentro de la agricultura sostenible.
