The main aim is to analyze the relationships built around this concept in order to go forward in the discussion about the conceptualization of the social reforms implemented in recent decades in the country. To this end, the characteristics of social policies adopted in five different periods of time have been explored. In particular, we have analyzed the changes in labor market conditions and the notion of citizenship in the past two decades given that both dimensions have experienced profound changes in the country. Este trabajo analiza la construcción, deconstrucción y reconstrucción del concepto de ciudadanía social en la Argentina durante los últimos dos siglos. El objetivo principal es ponderar las relaciones que se han conformado en torno a dicha noción para avanzar, luego, en la discusión sobre la conceptualización y el carácter de las reformas sociales implementadas en las últimas décadas. Se exploran las características que las políticas sociales adoptaron en cinco períodos históricos diferentes. En particular, se analizan en detalle los cambios ocurridos en las condiciones del mercado de trabajo y en la concepción misma de ciudadanía en las últimas dos décadas en el país ya que ambas experimentaron cambios profundos.
