This evidence helps to prove that it is possible to recognize many signs of plural and complex identities within the army and that there were no sharp ethnic and cultural boundaries among the members of the troops. El presente trabajo parte de algunos pasajes del gran historiador del siglo IV d.C. Amiano Marcelino para analizar los procesos de inserción de grupos germánicos en el ejército romano bajoimperial y su participación en la elección de diversos ocupantes del trono. La evidencia presentada contribuye a demostrar que es posible reconocer muchos indicios de una identidad plural y compleja dentro del ejército que contradice la existencia de fronteras étnico-culturales nítidas entre los integrantes de las tropas.
