Rojas defines the literature as the document of the collective memory of the people. Literature as a testimony, a witness, a unique way of representing reality; a way of seeing, feeling and expressing the world. Here, language comes into play as a form of expression. Rojas`s first conscious stumble wil be a territory and a history of his own an internationalist language. The second stumble, the youth of history in geography. Our hermeneutical assumption is that this work, in the attempt to claim the existence of national literature -elaboration of a literary canon- and in the absence of a homogeneous system, unity or model form wich to depart, integrates the anomalies into a heterogeneity that loses coherence to time that expresses its own thing of the Argentine cultural reality: an immigration society. El presente artículo tiene por objetivo plantear algunos interrogantes en torno a la literatura y la cuestión de la identidad nacional a partir de la Historia de la literatura argentina de Ricardo Rojas. Rojas define la literatura como el documento de la memoria colectiva de un pueblo. La literatura como testimonio, testigo, de una forma singular de representar la realidad; un modo de ver, sentir y expresar el mundo. Aquí entra en juego el idioma como forma de expresión. El primer tropiezo consciente de Rojas será un territorio y una historia propia con un idioma internacionalista. El segundo, la juventud de la historia en la geografía. Nuestra suposición hermenéutica es que esta obra, en el intento de querer afirmar la existencia de una literatura nacional –elaboración de un canon literario- y a falta de sistema homogéneo, unidad o modelo del cual partir, integra las anomalías en una heterogeneidad que pierde coherencia al tiempo que expresa lo propio de la realidad cultural argentina: una sociedad de inmigración.  Centro de Estudios Históricos Profesor Carlos S.
