La palabra “tensoestructura” es una palabra inventada y quizá protegida, pero evidentemente tiene su raíz en EstructurasTensadas, Estructuras Traccionadas, Estructuras Ligeras, Estructuras Textiles o Estructuras de Membrana, que son otras formas de denominar a una tipología arquitectónica que, si bien no se refiere siempre a exactamente lo mismo, nos lleva a un sistema constructivo cada vez más habitual. A palavra "estrutura de tração" é uma palavra inventada e talvez protegida, mas evidentemente tem suas raízes em Estruturas. Estruturas tensionadas, estruturas tensionadas, estruturas leves, estruturas têxteis ou estruturas de membrana, que são outras formas de nomear uma tipologia arquitetônica que, embora nem sempre se refira exatamente à mesma coisa, nos remete a um sistema construtiva cada vez mais comum.
