I10-R300-article-387502022-12-26T15:57:47Z Institutions, ideas and capitals: Development and developmentalism in Latin America (1948-1973) Instituciones, ideas y capitales: Desarrollo y desarrollismos en América Latina (1948-1973) Machuca, Darío Developmentalism Latin America Activisms Inter-American Development Bank Alliance for Progress Desarrollismo América Latina CEPAL Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo Alianza para el Progreso This essay deals with the institutions, ideas and capital flows linked to the problems of development in Latin America between 1948 and 1973. For that purpose, experiences such as those represented by the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC) of the United Nations Organization (UN), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or the Alliance for Progress (ALPRO) are studied. As a hypothesis, we support the presence of a "developmentalist mosaic" that accounts for the diversity of discrepancies, but, above all, we support the existence of existing agreements around the problem of development in Latin America at a specific moment in its history.
