The analysis arises from research on the relations between municipal and provincial governments in the process of national state building and, more specifically, from the implementation of the first rural municipalities in the Estado de Buenos Aires. It also seeks to give greater visibility to the current municipal archives and deliberative councils as repositories of the books of minutes of sessions. El objetivo del artículo es analizar las características de las actas de sesiones de los gobiernos municipales y señalar sus potencialidades como fuentes para el estudio de los procesos de municipalización. El análisis surge de las investigaciones sobre las relaciones entre gobiernos municipales y provinciales en el proceso de construcción del estado nacional y, más específicamente, de la implementación de las primeras municipalidades de la campaña en el Estado de Buenos Aires. Asimismo, se busca otorgar mayor visibilidad a los actuales archivos municipales y concejos deliberantes como repositorios de los libros de las actas de sesiones.
