Exposing some of the results obtained thanks to a recent work of detection and cataloging of primary sources, the article focuses the attention on a repository until now forgotten, claiming its importance in the study of migration dinamics in the Plata region. L’Unione e Benevolenza di Buenos Aires, fondata nel 1858, è l’associazione italiana di mutuo soccorso più antica d’America: il suo archivio offre una serie di importanti informazioni riguardanti le tappe di arrivo, aggregazione e integrazione degli emigrati italiani in Argentina dalla seconda metà del secolo XIX in poi. Mediante l’esposizione di alcuni dei dati emersi durante un recente lavoro di individuazione e inventariazione di fonti primarie, il presente articolo concentra quindi l’attenzione su di un ampio archivio finora dimenticato, rivendicando la sua importanza nello studio delle dinamiche migratorie verso la regione del Plata.
