By proposing anintersection between intellectualhistory and the social history ofLatin American left-wing culture, we seek to address the itinerary ofArgentine intellectuals in Mexicanexile and to delineate the contoursof one of the varied scenarioswhere, between the late 1970s andthe mid-1980s, the new paradigmswere produced and deployed.This proposal seeks to delimit aseries of circumstances that cametogether in this “exile space” andwhich created the conditions forthe emergence of a “structureof feeling” - to use Williams’words - on which some of thetheoretical-conceptual premiseswere elaborated that guidedcommunication studies in thefollowing years in Argentina,starting with the journalControversia: a publication thatexpressed a minority but influentialsegment of the theoretical-politicaldebate on exile life and which gaveshape to its subjective dilemmas. La práctica y la teorización de la intelectualidad de izquierda desde los años ´50 en adelante, tienen que ver con la transformación de gran parte de los intelectuales y escritores comprometidos en “Intelectuales Orgánicos”, de acuerdo con la definición de Antonio Gramsci1. Al plantear una intersección entre la historia intelectual y la historia social de la cultura de izquierda latinoamericana, se busca la dirección para abordar el itinerario en el exilio mexicano de los intelectuales argentinos y delinear los contornos de uno de los variados escenarios donde, entre fines de los años setenta y mediados de los ochenta, se produjeron y desplegaron los nuevos paradigmas. La presente propuesta busca delimitar una serie de circunstancias que se dieron cita en ese “espacio exiliar” y que crearon las condiciones para la emergencia de una “estructura de sentimiento” —al decir de Williams2, sobre la que se elaboraron algunas de las premisas teórico-conceptuales que orientaron los estudios en comunicación en los años siguientes en Argentina a partir de la revista Controversia: una publicación que  expresó un segmento minoritario pero influyente del debate teóricopolítico de la vida exiliar y que le dio cuerpo a sus dilemas subjetivos.
