We use the term “symbiosis”, which belongs to the scope of biology, in order to consider it within the literary field. We are referring, then, to the close and persistent relationship between art and biography, elements that mutually support and nurture each other. In this novel, Pérez explores the idea that art shows its Dionysian side. For this reason, we notice that the text acknowledges a scriptural approach which annihilates modesty and shows aspects of life that, on several occasions, are ignored. Writing, thus, is a projection and statement of shown subjectivity. El presente artículo trabaja sobre la materialidad textual de la primera novela de Pablo Pérez, Un año sin amor (1998), y busca examinar el vínculo entre la escritura y la vida, que aquí asume la cualidad de simbiótico. Usamos el término simbiosis, propio de la biología, para pensarlo en el campo literario. Nos referimos, entonces, a la relación estrecha y persistente entre arte y biografía, elementos solidarios entre sí que se retroalimentan. En esta novela Pérez explora la idea de que el arte muestre su lado dionisíaco. Por ello, advertimos que el texto asume un hacer escriturario que aniquila el pudor y exhibe aspectos de la vida que, en muchas ocasiones, se soslayan.
