description In this paper we propose a historical interpretation of quinoa at the Valley of El Bolson. For that, we apply a multiple analysis of microfossils, through which we recognize both, cultivated taxa as well as agricultural techniques involved in its production. Thus, at Forma- tive farm fields we identified quinoa micro starches, in all cases associated to maize. Agricultural practices associated include rainfed agriculture, stubble burning and plowing. While these techniques were detected in all cases studied, we also recognized some variations. The continuity in time of quinoa is suggested by its presence on a site assigned to Regional Development Period, where this crop reappears associated with maize but in this case being cultivated under irrigation and probably fertilized with guano. Later, at some point (still unknown) of the agricultural history of the valley, the cultivation of this plant seemed to be interrupted since quinoa was unknown among the current inhabitants until recent years, returning to be cultivated there in 2010 as part of a reintroduction project of Andean crops. This local historic trajectory shows the different temporal scenarios of the relationship between the farmers of the valley and quinoa, a relationship that now presents particular nuances in which quinoa is resignified as a novelty.
