description This paper presents the results of archaeobotanical analyses conducted on grinding tools from the North of the Dry Pampas (provinces of Cordoba and San Luis, Argentina). These analyses are one of the first archaeobotanical recorded evidence for Late Holocene human occupation in a broad area of the Northwest of the Argentine Pampas. This study showed a high variability in the use of wild plant resources by huntergatherers. Moreover, the identification of phytoliths and starch grains indicated a diversification in the selection of resources from the xeric forest. Finally, the high variability recorded in this analysis could be seen as strategy in order to minimize risk and uncertainty in an environment where quantitative values of floristic resources were unpredictable.
