description This article is part of the development of the History Degree final work; it has the purpose of giving a contribution for a better understanding of the building and eventual consolidation of the social imaginings of the Venezuelan modern State through a historical analysis of the literary production of Romulo Gallegos. One of the main aspects in R. Gallegos´ work and thought is the effort he makes to delineate, by means of a fictional narration, some conceptual bases from which a renewed social imagining may consolidate more in accordance with the socio-political needs of modern Venezuela. Here, it is put forward the existence of a double literary game, that develop some intellectuals and Latin American politicians considered “frontier narrators” where the author is also included. As aim, it is proposed to determine what way in R. Gallegos´ thought and work the ideas and topics, he understands must interpretate the different alterities that unhabit the Venezuelan soil for the construction and consolidation project of a modern State, wholly inserted to the international market and ruled by democratic institutions.
