description This work is based on questions about the place of native women, pioneers, immigrants, convicts and prostitutes in the Fuegopatagonia region, in the southernmost part of South America. We wonder what their way of life was like and what traces remain of their presence, of their voices and what the scarcity of women implied as one of the foundational marks of the territorial area. From the theoretical methodological framework of the History of Women, it is assumed that knowing these unrecovered or unwritten pasts enables their visibility in the present. The object of study are the women who inhabited this region between the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. One of the contributions of the article is to bring together stories, memoirs and testimonies available from heterogeneous sources. After a meticulous analysis of the documentation, a process of making women's voices visible is carried out, in relation to the questions posed. Finally, a dialogue about the presence / absence of women is proposed from a historical perspective and a gender perspective.
