description Pinnipeds exploitation have been previously analyzed in Isla de los Estados based on the global analysis of the assemblages from Bahía Crossley I. However, this deposit is made up of seven layers differentiated according to chrono-stratigraphic indicators. The detailed analysis of each of the levels indicates differences mainly in the mortality profiles of the pinnipeds captured. The lower levels show a greater presence of adult females and individuals younger than one year of O. flavescens, while in the upper ones adult males and subadults of the same species predominate. Added to variations in the processing strategies of the carcasses: at lower levels a greater variety of butchery marks related to their consumption has been identified. This has two implications. On the one hand, that the occupations may correspond to different times of the year, considering that the puppies are indicators of captures in rookeries. On the other hand, a relative increase in the size of the prey captured at the most recent levels, which could potentially be related to the processes of change identified in maritime groups of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago.
