The Covid-19 pandemic has shown that countries that invest more in Science, Technology and Innovation have obtained better results in facing the crisis. Through postgraduate studies, Brazil has sought to consolidate its scientific base and train human resources capable of solving regional and national problems. The adequacy between the level and type of academic training and the professional situation has been a topic of debate. In general, the fate of masters and doctors who graduated from Brazilian postgraduate courses is a subject with possibility and need for exploration. The Biotechnology area is considered a strategic area for development and identified as a priority for growth, in terms of creating new master's and doctoral courses. This work carried out a literature review on the theme about Science, Technology, Innovation and development and also sought to analyze, through a case study, the repercussions of Postgraduate Studies in Biotechnology for the professional life of masters and doctors who graduated in the period from 2013 to 2016 in a program that has a level of excellence.

Tanto la Educación como la Ciencia, la Tecnología y la Innovación son fundamentales para apoyar el crecimiento económico y mejorar la calidad de vida. El uso y desarrollo del conocimiento científico y la capacidad tecnológica son fundamentales para la supervivencia de países que buscan la autonomía y soberanía necesarias para las negociaciones en un mundo globalizado. La pandemia Covid-19 ha demostrado que los países que más invierten en Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación han obtenido mejores resultados para afrontar la crisis. A través de estudios de posgrado, Brasil ha buscado consolidar su base científica y formar recursos humanos capaces de resolver problemas regionales y nacionales. La adecuación entre el nivel y tipo de formación académica y la situación profesional ha sido un tema de debate. En general, el destino de los maestros y doctores que se graduaron de los posgrados brasileños es un tema con posibilidad y necesidad de ser explorado. El área de Biotecnología se considera un área estratégica de desarrollo y es identificada como prioridad para el crecimiento, con respecto a la creación de nuevos cursos de maestría y doctorado. Este trabajo realizó una revisión de la literatura sobre el tema Ciencia, Tecnología, Innovación y Desarrollo, como también buscó analizar, a través de un estudio de caso, las repercusiones de los Estudios de Postgrado en Biotecnología para la vida profesional de los maestros y doctores egresados ​​en el período de 2013 a 2016 en un programa que tiene un nivel de excelencia A Educação, a Ciência, a Tecnologia e a Inovação são cruciais como apoio ao crescimento econômico e à melhoria da qualidade de vida. A utilização e o desenvolvimento do conhecimento científico e a capacitação tecnológica mostram-se fundamentais à sobrevivência dos países que intentam autonomia e soberania necessárias para negociações num mundo globalizado. A pandemia de Covid-19 tem demonstrado que países que investem mais em Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação têm obtido melhores resultados no enfrentamento a crise. Por meio da pós-graduação o Brasil tem buscado a consolidação de sua base científica e formação de recursos humanos capacitados para solução de problemas regionais e nacionais. A adequação entre o nível e tipo de formação acadêmica e a situação profissional tem sido um tema de debate muito presente. De maneira geral, o destino de mestres e doutores formados pela pós-graduação brasileira é um tema com possibilidade e necessidade de exploração. A área de Biotecnologia é considerada como área estratégica ao desenvolvimento e apontada como prioritária para o crescimento, em termos de criação de novos cursos de mestrado e doutorado.
