description The use of baskets as molds was an extended practice for the agro-potter societies that populated the region of Villa de Soto, Córdoba, in times immediately prior to the implantation of the Spanish crown. The environmental conditions of this area do not make possible the conservation of organic material, therefore, examples of the baskets used have not endured. However, the imprints on the surfaces of the affected vessels indirect evidence that, with the necessary care, become an important source of information about the basest techniques. The following article presents the analysis of the basket production of the prehispanic societies of Soto using the ceramic fragments from that region. With the use of a descriptive analytical code and the application of statistical techniques of multivariate analysis (cluster analysis), we arrive at two characteristic techniques in the making of baskets, simple spiral and wrapped twining, being able to distinguish the varieties within them. These results allow us to unravel the different events of weaving in these societies and the multiple articulations that they entail.

These results allow us to unravel the different events of weaving in these societies and the multiple articulations that they entail.
