In order to achieve our purpose, we analyze the work of some Post-structuralist French thinkers and Mass Communication Research. Finally, we conclude that the event that gives rise to the configuration of Western knowledge and the conformation of the contemporary episteme is related to both, sense and information, which contribute to outline the contours of the characteristics of man and language in the new episteme. En este trabajo nos proponemos, en primer lugar, reconstruir brevemente el análisis de Michel Foucault acerca de la episteme moderna, para luego analizar algunos rastros que identificamos en ciertos textos del pensador francés sobre la episteme contemporánea. A los fines de lograr este cometido, en tercer lugar, analizamos algunos textos de algunos pensadores del posestructuralismo francés y de la Mass Communication Research. Finalmente, concluimos que el acontecimiento que da lugar a la reconfiguración del saber occidental y a la conformación de la episteme contemporánea está relacionado con las cuestiones del sentido y de la información, que contribuyen a delinear los contornos de las características del hombre y el lenguaje en la nueva episteme. Neste artigo, propomos, primeiro, reconstruir brevemente a análise de Michel Foucault da episteme moderna, e depois analisar alguns traços que identificamos em certos textos do pensador francês para reconstruir a episteme contemporânea. Para realizar essa tarefa, em terceiro lugar, analisamos alguns textos de alguns pensadores do pós-estruturalismo francês e do Mass Communication Resarch. Por fim, concluímos que o evento que dá origem à reconfiguração do conhecimento ocidental e à conformação da episteme contemporânea está relacionado tanto às questões de significado quanto à informação, que contribuem para delinear os contornos das características do homem e da linguagem no mundo im a nova episteme.
