Evaluation of the type of delivery, lactation and intestinal pathogens development in patients with Allergic Infant Colitis.

Allergic Infant Colitis is an allergic disorder not mediated by IgE, characterized by mucosanguinolent depositions, associated with the ingestion of cow's milk proteins. The type of delivery and type of breastfeeding have an influence on the maturation of the microbiota and the infant...

description Allergic Infant Colitis is an allergic disorder not mediated by IgE, characterized by mucosanguinolent depositions, associated with the ingestion of cow's milk proteins. The type of delivery and type of breastfeeding have an influence on the maturation of the microbiota and the infant's immune system, risk factors in the prognosis of Allergic Colitis. The purpose of this study was to relate the type of delivery, type of lactation and development of intestinal pathogenic germs in infants with allergic colitis from 0 to 12 months of age, who attended the Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Section of the Private University Hospital of Córdoba, between the years 2016 and 2018. A quantitative, descriptive, correlational and retrospective study was carried out. The sample consisted of 33 patients diagnosed with Allergic Infant Colitis, who attended the Private Hospital, who met the inclusion criteria. The data were collected by retrospective review of the medical records, were statistically processed with the SPSS software (v.20) and grouped into categories according to the different variables. They were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. There was a predominance of the male sex (60.6%). The age at the time of diagnosis presented an average of 3.18 months. They were born by caesarean section (54.5%). The highest percentage is artificial lactation (78.78%), exclusive breastfeeding is the lowest percentage (9%). At 6 months of age the majority of infants presented with colic and abdominal distention (58%), bloody diarrhea (55%). The type of breastfeeding, childbirth and development of Pathogenic germs finding no association between the variables (p: 0.28), but significant differences were found with children born by caesarean section (p: 0.001). A relationship was found between children born by caesarean section and the development of pathogenic germs, but not between type of delivery, type of breastfeeding and development of pathogenic germs. The results allow to conclude that caesarean delivery is a risk factor for the development of Allergic Infant Colitis. Further studies are needed to be able to relate the environmental risk factors for the development of food allergies, in order to improve the prevention of these types of pathologies

The results allow to conclude that caesarean delivery is a risk factor for the development of Allergic Infant Colitis. Further studies are needed to be able to relate the environmental risk factors for the development of food allergies, in order to improve the prevention of these types of pathologies     La Colitis Alérgica del Lactante (CAL) es una alteración alérgica no mediada por IgE, caracterizada por deposiciones mucosanguinolentas, asociada a la ingestión de proteínas de la leche de vaca.
