Throughout theinvestigation, the group and its social characteristics were studied and relatedto its technological competence. Besides it was possible to identify in this group the real access to technology and a meaningful usage of it, especially the use of personal computers and the internet. The previously analysed aspects show that the digital competence is strongly conditioned more by the very education process of these students during their years in the teacher training institutions, than by their social- characteristics and their access to technology. En este artículo se presentan algunos resultados encontrados a partir de llevar adelante una investigación sobre las posibilidades de uso y apropiación de las Nuevas Tecnologías (TIC) por parte de los alumnos “futuros formadores” de un Instituto de Formación Docente Nivel EGB 1y 2 (ISFD), de la ciudad de Córdoba, durante los años 2008 y 2009. A partir de esta investigación se pudo estudiar al grupo en sus características socio-culturales, las cuales se pretendían relacionar con sus prácticas tecnológicas. Además se pudieron identificar en dicho grupo las condiciones de acceso material y significados asociados al uso de tecnologías, en especial lo relativo a la computadora e Internet. Estos aspectos analizados nos permiten advertir que la competencia digital, como saber localizado, está fuertemente condicionada por la experiencia de formación, es decir, por el tránsito de estos a jóvenes y adultos por la institución escolar, más que por aspectos socio-culturales y de acceso tecnológicos.
