Surgical Anatomy of the Facial Nerve (Conclusion)

The parotiga is enormously developed. It extends vertically from the inferior border of the zygoma to the gonion and antero-posteriorly from the preauricular sulcus to the anterior border of the masseter. It extends vertically from the inferior border of the zygoma to the gonion and antero-posteriorly from the preauricular sulcus to the anterior border of the masseter. It has a triangular shape with the vertex directed forward. The vertex corresponds to the exit of the Stenon's duct. Its base, which is posterior, measures eighty-eight millimeters (88); its superior side, which is one centimeter below the zygoma, measures sixty-five millimeters (65) and its inferior side, which crosses the medial part of the external face of the masseter, measures seventy-two millimeters (72).
