In the 20th century, the other faculties were created, which originated mostly as institutes or schools dependent on the already existing faculties: Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities, Faculty of Economic Sciences, Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Sciences Chemistry, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Mathematics, Astronomy and Physics. In addition, the Higher School of Languages and the Higher School of Commerce "General Manuel Belgrano" were created. With the restoration of democracy in 1983, after recurring authoritarian periods, a new stage in the history of the country and its institutions begins. La Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, la más antigua del país y una de las primeras del continente americano, cuenta con una larga historiaSus orígenes se remontan al primer cuarto del siglo XVII, cuando los jesuitas abrieron en Córdoba el Colegio Máximo, donde los alumnos, en particular religiosos de esa orden, recibían clases de filosofía y teología. Este establecimiento de alta categoría intelectual fue la base de la futura Universidad. Bajo la tutela de los jesuitas y el especial impulso del Obispo Juan Fernando e Trejo y Sanabria, en el año 1613, aunque el establecimiento no estaba autorizado para otorgar grados, se iniciaron los Estudios Superiores en el Colegio Máximo de Córdoba.Luego de la Reforma, y en el marco de la Ley Avellaneda, las universidades nacionales adquirieron el carácter de autónomas. En el siglo XX se crearon las otras facultades que se originaron en su mayoría como institutos o escuelas dependientes de las facultades ya existentes: Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades, Facultad de Ciencias económicas, Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, Facultad de Odontología, Facultad de Ciencias Químicas, Facultad de Ciencias Agropecuarias, Facultad de Matemática, Astronomía y Física. Además, se crearon la Escuela Superior de Lenguas y la Escuela Superior de Comercio “General Manuel Belgrano”. Con la reinstauración de la democracia en 1983, tras recurrentes períodos autoritarios, comienza una nueva etapa en la historia del país y de sus instituciones.
