| 520 | 3 | |a In this contribution we present the palynological record of the El Chacay Formation, Neogene of the Austral Basin, northwestern Santa Cruz province, Argentina. A total of 6 fertile samples were analyzed, in which elements of continental and marine origin were recognized. Within the continental fraction, a total of 62 species corresponding to bryophyte and pteridophyte spores, gymnosperm and angiosperm pollen and freshwater algae were identified. A descriptive and quantitative analysis of the recovered association was made and compared with other similar outcrops in the coastal sector of Patagonia. A latest Early Miocene age was assigned to these outcrops, on the basis of the presence of species characteristic of Asteraceae and Malvaceae, which corroborate the previous radiometric dates and make them correlated with other fossil palynomorph bearing Neogene formations (e.g. Chenque and Monte León Fms.). Based on the palynological content, an estuarine type environment is here suggested, with the presence of a diverse paleoflora dominated by elements of forest, temperate-humid characteristics and associated with the coastline, with herbaceous and shrub elements of warmer and humid requirements in interior zones and herbaceous-shrubby elements of halo-xerophytic preferences in the littoral or marsh sectors. This floristic pattern, although perhaps with changes in the quantities of species and abundances, can also be inferred for other Neogene sediments. Finally, the floristic gradient between the Andean and coastal regions is very difficult to distinguish since the paleofloras studied are very similar in composition. |l eng | |
| 520 | 3 | |a En esta contribución se da a conocer el registro palinológico de la Formación El Chacay, Neógeno de la Cuenca Austral, noroeste de la provincia de Santa Cruz, Argentina. Un total de 6 muestras fértiles fueron analizadas, en las cuales se reconocieron elementos de origen continental y marino. Dentro de la fracción continental se identificaron un total de 62 especies correspondientes a esporas de briofitas y pteridofitas, polen de gimnospermas y angiospermas, y algas de agua dulce. Se tomó la muestra más productiva, se realizó un análisis descriptivo y cuantitativo de la asociación recuperada, y se realizaron comparaciones con otras similares aflorantes en el sector costero de la Patagonia. Una edad miocena temprana tardía fue asignada a estos afloramientos, en base a la presencia especies características de asteráceas y de malváceas, que corroboran las dataciones radiométricas previas y los hacen correlacionables con otras formaciones neógenas portadoras de palinomorfos (e.g. Fms. Chenque, Monte León). Se sugiere, en base al contenido palinológico, un ambiente de tipo estuárico, con la presencia de una paleoflora diversa dominada por elementos de bosque, de características templado-húmedas y asociada a la línea de costa, con elementos herbáceos y arbustivos de requerimientos más cálidos y húmedos en zonas interiores y elementos herbáceo-arbustivos de preferencias halo-xerofíticas en los sectores litorales o marismas. Este patrón florístico, aunque quizás con cambios en los números de especies y sus abundancias, también puede ser inferido para otras sedimentitas neógenas. Por último, el gradiente florístico entre las regiones andinas y costeras es muy difícil de distinguir ya que las paleofloras estudiadas son muy parecidas en composición. |l spa | |
