Spin control in charged quantum dots by twisted light

Strongly focused twisted light may have strong field components in the propagation direction. By manipulating light-hole excitons in a charged quantum dot with such beams the spin of an excess electron can be efficiently controlled. © 2014 Optical Society of America.
