Sumario: | Whole plants of Festuca argentina and Festuca hieronymi were chemically analysed. The common constituents of both petroleum ether extracts were identified as n-hydrocarbons, n-aldehydes and n-primary alcohols. The main difference between both species arose from the occurrence of linear and triterpanic ketones, Δ5- and Δ7-sterols and the corresponding ketones, as well as 5,6-dihydrosterols. A comparative structural analysis of the constituents of these two species showed relationships of chemotaxonomic value. |
