Sumario: | The development of the anther wall in Jacaranda mimosifolia is Dicotyledonous type. The tapetum is secretory and dimorphic. The microspore tetrads are tetrahedral and the pollen grains are two-celled at the shedding stage. Concurrent with the dissolution of the tapetal cell walls, a new membrane is formed covering the protoplasts of these cells. Übisch bodies are prominent on the inner surface of this tapetal membrane. A new type of endothecium is described for Bignoniaceae, the endothecial cells acquire thickenings as fibrous bands only along the inner tangential wall. |
