Sumario: | Mass transfer coefficients for packed beds of Raschig rings were measured by the electrochemical technique in the low Reynolds number range, where both, free and forced convection are important. From the analysis of the governing basic equations the parameters controlling the combined free and forced convection mass transfer were found to be Sh/(ScGr)1 4 and Re/Gr1 2. The experimental results were correlated in terms of these variables for both, aiding and opposing flows. Satisfactory agreement was found when comparing previous mass transfer data for widely varying systems with the proposed expressions. © 1973. |
