Sumario:New data on the Mesozoic stratigraphy and structure of the High Andes of San Juan are presented. Two new formations, Rancho de Lata and Los Patillos are defined in order to establish a precise stratigraphy of this sector of the Cordillera Principal. The sedimentary sequence rests on a Permo-Triassic basement (Choiyoi Group), composed by rhyolites and granites. The overlying units are volcaniclastic, pyroclastic, and sedimentary rocks. A geological map of the southwestern slope of the Cordon del Espinacito, detailed sections of Rancho de Lata and Los Patillos Formations, as well as a general correlation with other regions of Mendoza and Neuquen are also presented. -from English summary
