Sumario:Depending on the part of the world, different concepts, problems and needs affect the Biomedical Engineering development, particularly in terms of curricula and training. In Latin-American countries, the process of application of scientific and technological knowledge takes place basically in disarticulated conditions. Under this premise, a gathering between the most representative Latin-American societies of biomedical Engineering took place on May 19th, 2015, at Favaloro University, Argentina. The highlights emerged from that meeting encouraged the analysis proposed in this work, where education profile, human resources and scientific production (in terms of international publications) were objectively discussed. © 2016, IUPESM and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
