Spectra density of a random chain of oscillators: Cellular coherent-potential approximation calculations

Sumario:The cellular coherent-potential approximation (CCPA) is applied to the calculation of the spectral density of the one-dimensional random chain of oscillators. Although the CCPA introduces an artificial periodicity on the on-the-average homogeneous chain, this does not appear to affect the results, which are found to agree very well with Monte Carlo calculations, when a sufficiently large cluster is taken. © 1978 The American Physical Society.
