Sumario:This article analyzes the interpretation of constitutional signs in Colombia from a semiotic perspective, focusing on the tension between originalism and the living constitution theory. The study examines the Constitutional Court as the guarantor of meaning and addresses ruling SU-214 of 2016 as an example of dilemmas between textual coherence and dynamic adaptation. Methodologically, it applies a hermeneutic approach based on Saussure, Peirce, Dworkin, and recent contributions (2021–2025). The results show that interpretations detached from the semantic framework create risks of arbitrariness. It concludes by proposing criteria that combine coherence and flexibility to ensure a rigorous and legitimate constitutional law.
