| Sumario: | The housing deficit has been increasing in the region as a result of accelerated urbanization and the economic, political and social crises. This paper focuses on intermediate and small agglomerates in Mendoza, analyzing the criteria, procedures and deficit data used in the eighteen municipalities of the province. It seeks to clarify the different records provided by the media and public institutions in the last decade. The methodology combines quantitative and qualitative techniques from the analysis of census and institutional data, and interviews with the municipal Housing Areas and the Provincial Housing Institute. It is difficult to clarify the deficit data due to the heterogeneity of the institutional figures obtained. This is intensified by the procedures and criteria used in the local data registry (on spontaneous housing demand) that do not systematize and mainstream efficiently, which makes it difficult to build figures with a perspective on diversity and associated with the local reality. |
