Sumario:This paper aims to evaluate a sustainable last-mile delivery alternative by using microhubs in public transportation stations. The current scenario was compared with two other scenarios: (i) a microhub in the public transportation terminal and using the motorcycle as a delivery vehicle; and (ii) a microhub in the public transportation terminal and using cargo bicycle as a delivery vehicle. The research approach is based on the optimal location of the microhub and the optmized routes for the last-mile distribution by cargo bike and motorcycle. Based on operational data, the sustainable evaluation showed that parcel delivery from microhubs using cargo bikes is the best sustainable last mile delivery alternative among analysed scenarios. Based on the results, municipal authorities could include this solution in the urban mobility plan and encourage or support pilot tests for proof of concept.
