Although lithic artifacts are ubiquitous in the sites of agro-pottery societies that inhabited the Quebrada de Humahuaca, those corresponding to societies dating from the first millennium AD. they have hardly been the subject of detailed archaeological research. In order to fill this gap, this work presents the general technological characteristics of the lithic materials recovered in archaeological rescue carried out in the Malka neighborhood in the town of Tilcara, Jujuy. Although this assamblage is relatively small but with marked variations in terms of the typological classes, groups and subgroups represented, the technological information derived from this analysis constitutes a first approximation to the lithic technology of sedentary societies at the end of the first millennium AD. from the Quebradian area. Such potential is illustrated by the techno-morphological analysis of the flaked and polished stone artifacts and their relationships with similar implements recovered at other sites in the Quebrada de Humahuaca dating from that time. |
