Sumario:The electoral processes in the Argentine provinces and in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires are the mechanisms that enable the combination of two basic elements of our constitutional order: political autonomy and the democratic principle. Insofar as the electoral subject matter is one of the competencies that the provinces have not delegated to the Nation, this paper studies, firstly, the scope of the political rights in the light of the inter-American and international standards and in the 37th article of the Constitution; secondly, it analyzes the concept of citizenship and, finally, it compares the treatment of the right of foreigners to vote in the constitutional provisions and in the electoral laws in each constituency, within the framework of what can be termed electoral federalism.
