description The notion of interculturality assumes the time-space confluence of people who are identified with different cultures –defined as a set of specific skills and knowledge that people need in order to interact in and with the artifacts of their environment, and interpret the derived experience in a particular way. Music, in its specific ubiquity, entails in its experience, construction and circulation of a remarkable body of such capacities. The current characteristics of the University in Argentina make the university classroom into a scenario of cultural confluence. This paper aims to characterize our university classroom as a multicultural scenario in order to identify problems and possibilities for the establishment of intercultural (isometric) relationships. Students’ attitudes are explored at their entrance to University in relation to the encounter of their own culture with the official culture that the institution personifies. From a questionnaire provided to 277 incoming students, both attitudes of assimilation into the dominant culture (derived from the epistemological coloniality) and of resilience are identified. The paper discusses the categories found from listening to the voices of the students and proposes a reflection on the teacher’s role in the setting of intercultural relations.

The paper discusses the categories found from listening to the voices of the students and proposes a reflection on the teacher’s role in the setting of intercultural relations.   La noción de interculturalidad presupone la confluencia en tiempo y espacio de personas identificadas con diferentes culturas en tanto éstas pueden definirse como un conjunto de capacidades y conocimientos específicos que las personas necesitan para interactuar en y con los artefactos propios de su entorno e interpretar de manera particular la experiencia derivada. La música, en su ubicuidad específica, conlleva en su experiencia la construcción y circulación de un cuerpo notable en tales capacidades. Las características actuales de la Universidad en la Argentina hacen del aula universitaria un escenario de confluencia cultural. Este trabajo busca caracterizar nuestra aula universitaria como escenario multicultural con el objeto de identificar problemas y posibilidades para el establecimiento de relaciones interculturales (isométricas). Se exploran las actitudes de los estudiantes en el ingreso a la Universidad con relación al encuentro de su propia cultura con la cultura oficial que personifica la institución. A partir de un cuestionario suministrado a 277 estudiantes ingresantes, se identifican actitudes de asimilación a la cultura dominante (articuladas desde la colonialidad epistemológica) y de resiliencia. Se discuten las categorías identificadas a partir de escuchar las voces de los estudiantes y se propone una reflexión sobre el rol docente en el armado de relaciones interculturales. A noção de interculturalidade pressupõe a confluência no tempo e no espaço de pessoas identificadas com diferentes culturas quando estas se definem como um conjunto de capacidades e conhecimentos específicos que as pessoas precisam para interagir em e com os dispositivos próprios do seu ambiente e interpretar particularmente a experiência derivada. A música, pela sua ubiquidade, comporta na sua experiência, a construção e a circulação de um corpo notável de tais capacidades. As características atuais da Universidade na Argentina fazem da sala de aula universitária um cenário de confluência cultural. Este trabalho procura caracterizar a nossa sala de aula como um cenário multicultural, a fim de identificar problemas e possibilidades para o estabelecimento de relações interculturais (isométricas). Exploram-se as atitudes dos alunos no ingresso à universidade em relação ao encontro da sua própria cultura com a cultura oficial que instituição personifica. A partir de um questionário fornecido a 277 estudantes, são identificadas atitudes de assimilação à cultura dominante (articulada a partir da colonialidade epistemológica) e de resiliência.
