Urban mobility can be understood as a fundamental phenomenon of modernity. Since the 15th century, cities have gained substantial importance for the development of human life. Today, neoliberalism permeates our lives and has also taken hold in urban contexts, impacting issues such as urban mobility and public transportation. Tarragona is no exception to these dynamics and will serve as a case study to analyze and problematize the current situation. Thus, the primary objective of this research focuses on the evolution of demands for the right to urban mobility in Tarragona, taking into account its specific socio-historical variables. Utilizing qualitative methodology, this study employs techniques that range from bibliographic reviews and interviews to participant observation. In this regard, the Tarragona case will be contrasted with global historical processes of popular mobilization and urban mobility. The findings indicate a historical trajectory rooted in popular mobilization, where the role of neighborhood associations is crucial and is currently intertwined with a productive shift in the city, oriented toward the tourism sector, where civil society and state actors converge. |

La movilidad urbana puede entenderse como un fenómeno constitutivo de la modernidad. Desde el siglo XV en adelante, la ciudad ha cobrado un valor sustancial para el desarrollo de la vida humana. En la actualidad, el neoliberalismo, que inunda nuestras vidas, se ha asentado también en la ciudad y, por ende, en cuestiones como la movilidad urbana y el transporte público. Tarragona no escapa a estas lógicas, por lo que servirá como caso de estudio para analizar y problematizar la situación presentada. El objetivo general de la investigación se centra en la evolución de las demandas por el derecho a la movilidad urbana en Tarragona, considerando sus variables sociohistóricas particulares. Partiendo de la metodología cualitativa, se utilizan técnicas que van desde la revisión bibliográfica, pasando por la entrevista, hasta la observación participante. En este sentido, el caso tarraconense será contrastado con los procesos históricos globales de movilización popular y movilidad urbana. Los resultados obtenidos muestran un proceso histórico sustentado en la movilización popular, en el cual el rol de las asociaciones vecinales resulta fundamental y que, en la actualidad, se conjuga con un giro productivo de la ciudad, orientado al sector turístico y donde confluyen actores de la sociedad civil y el Estado. A mobilidade urbana pode ser entendida como um fenômeno constitutivo da modernidade. Desde o século XV, a cidade adquiriu um valor substancial para o desenvolvimento da vida humana. Atualmente, o neoliberalismo, que permeia nossas vidas, também se estabeleceu na cidade e, portanto, em questões como mobilidade urbana e transporte público. Tarragona não escapa a essas lógicas, e servirá como um caso de estudo para analisar e problematizar a situação apresentada. O objetivo geral da pesquisa concentra-se na evolução das demandas pelo direito à mobilidade urbana em Tarragona, considerando suas variáveis sociohistóricas particulares. A partir de uma metodologia qualitativa, são utilizadas técnicas que vão desde a revisão bibliográfica, passando por entrevistas, até a observação participante. Nesse sentido, o caso de Tarragona será confrontado com os processos históricos globais de mobilização popular e mobilidade urbana.
