Sumario:This paper proposes to read Cuadernos de lengua y literatura by Mario Ortiz and Leñador by Mike Wilson as two stances of what might be called «long duration narratives». Despite their evident differences in styles and formats, both works put their writing to use as a practice (material and therapeutic) that cannot be dissociated, on the one hand, from a radical encounter with matter, as an experience of verification, and, on the other, from a radical encounter with words, that is, the way in which language tends to vanish towards the manifestation of things or towards the extinction of the self.
