Sumario:In this article we propose to highlight the importance of the ethnographic registry as a tool to document the routes of the intervention from the university in various social networks and facilitate processes of knowledge production. In Área de Comunicación Comunitaria from Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación (UNER) we believe that keeping ethnographic records during the development of extension projects between 2004 and 2017 allowed us to establish definitions of how we think and do extension, recognize the conditions in which the intervention unfolds, thinking and rethinking the practice, recognizing ways of meaning of the world and leading us in a reflexive process that leads us to be subjects of the integrality of the university functions, which puts into discussion the crystallized notion of “Pure researchers”. That is why we are interested here, recover and share the value of the task of documenting the extension routes, from our experience of workshops in prison in which we carry ethnographic records as field notes.
